Set of Kuna and Lipa Coins Minted to Mark Special Occasions in 1994 - 1996

In the years 1994-1996, the Croatian National Bank put into circulation five different issues of coins minted to mark special occasions, the mintings covering the nine current denominations. The nine denominations of the coins minted to mark these special occasions are to be found in a special commemorative set. All the denominations in the set have the same appearance as regular coins in circulation, but the obverses are different and bear a motif that is related to the occasion commemorated by the minting. An exception here is the 5 kuna coin, which has both obverse and reverse different from that of the regular 5 kuna coin. The motifs on the 5 kuna commemorative coin are related to the particular occasion being commemorated. In the sequel we shall give an account of the occasions that inspired the commemorative mintings and the date that the coins were put into regular circulation.
