To commemorate six centuries of university teaching in Zadar the Croatian National Bank minted a 500 kuna gold coin and a 200 kuna silver coin. These coins were minted as proof and released for sale on October 24, 1996.

Both silver and gold coins were designed by Kazimir Hraste, the sculptor.

This edition was made by the Croatian Monetary Institute in association with the Hungarian Mint Co. Ltd., Budapest.
