"500th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF MARIN DRŽIĆ " |
The Croatian National Bank issued a commemorative
gold coin to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Marin Držić, one of the
greatest Croatian poets, playwrights and intellectuals whose work compares
favourably with those of the most eminent Renaissance authors and has been
highly valued among international history writers and theatrologists.
The commemorative gold coin was minted as proof and released for sale on 22
September 2008.

The concept and design of the 1000 kuna commemorative gold coin is by Stjepan Divković, academic sculptor.
This issue was minted by the Croatian Monetary Institute.
