Boris Vujčić, PhD, Governor of CNB

Boris Vujčić, PhD, was born in Zagreb on June 2, 1964. He graduated in 1988 and received his doctor's degree in 1996, both from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics. He worked as assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb from 1989 to 1997 when he was appointed assistant professor. As a Fulbright fellow he attended doctoral study at the Department of Economics, Michigan State University, USA, in the period between 1994 to 1995. From December 1996 till his appointment as Deputy Governor of the CNB he worked as Director of the CNB Research Department. Boris Vujčić was appointed Deputy Governor of the Croatian National Bank on July 15, 2000 pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament. On July 13, 2006 the Croatian Parliament reappointed Deputy Governor Vujčić for a second six-year term of office. Since 2005 Mr Vujčić was also a Deputy Chief Negotiator in Republic of Croatia’s negotiations with the European Union.
Since 2003 Mr Vujčić is professor at the Zagreb Faculty of Economics. At the Zagreb Faculty of Science he lectures as visiting professor since 2004. Mr Vujčić's fields of expertise and teaching include monetary analysis, labor economics and international finance. He is the author of numerous scholarly papers on economic issues.

Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Vujčić assumed office as Governor of the Croatian National Bank on July 8, 2012.

 

 

Relja Martić, Deputy Governor

Relja Martić, Deputy Governor

Relja Martić was born in Zagreb on November 24, 1954. He graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics in 1978, and in the same year he got employed as a trainee with the Croatian National Bank. In 1987 he was appointed Head of the Credit and Monetary Research and Analysis Division in the Analysis Department, and in 1991 he became Director of that Department. In 1992 the Croatian Parliament appointed him CNB Vicegovernor, and in March 1998 he was reappointed to the same office. Mr Martić was appointed Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on July 15, 2000 pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament. On July 13, 2006 the Croatian Parliament reappointed Vicegovernor Relja Martić for a second six-year term of office.

Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Martić assumed office as Deputy Governor of the Croatian National Bank on July 17, 2012.
Deputy Governor Martić is reponsible for the co-ordination and management of affairs in the field of the Office of the Governor, Internal Audit Office, Public Relations Office and Central Banking Operations Area.


Vedran Šošić, MSc, Vicegovernor

Vedran Šošić, Vicegovernor


Vedran Šošić was born in Osijek on June 5, 1974. He received his B.Sc. degree from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics in 1997, and in the same year he got employed with the Croatian National Bank, Research Department, first as a trainee, then as a staff associate, a senior staff associate and head of the Real Sector and Budget Analysis Division. In 2006, he moved from his position as senior advisor at the Research Department to the Mission of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union in Brussels, to work as a second secretary responsible for economic and monetary issues, free movement of capital and financial services. From 2008 to his appointment as Vicegovernor, he was at the head of the CNB Financial Stability Department. Vedran Šošić is the author of numerous scholarly papers and he currently attends post-graduate scientific study of the economics of international trade at the Zagreb Faculty of Economics and Business.

Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Šošić assumed office as Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on July 17, 1012.
Vicegovernor Šošić coordinates and manages the operations of the Research and Statistics Area.
 


Damir Odak, Vicegovernor

Damir Odak, Vicegovernor

Damir Odak was born in Split on February 29, 1964. After graduating from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics in 1987, he started his business career as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Economics, Zagreb. From 1989, he worked as an advisor with the Ecosystem company, and was responsible for establishing Trgovačka banka d.d. In 1990, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of Trgovačka banka d.d., which later on merged into Erste und Steiermärkische Bank d.d. Then he transferred to Zagrebačka banka d.d., where he held office as manager of the Commercial Banking Division from 1997 to 2000, when was appointed Member of the Bank's Management Board responsible for corporate business and business operations development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He continued his career as Chairman of the Management Board of Nova banka d.d., which became OTP banka Hrvatska d.d. in 2005, where he stayed until summer 2011.

Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Odak assumed office as Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on July 17, 2012.
Vicegovernor Odak coordinates and manages the operations of the CNB Prudential Regulations and Bank Supervision Area.
 


 

Adolf Matejka, MSc, Vicegovernor

Adolf Matejka, MSc, Vicegovernor

Adolf Matejka was born in Daruvar (Doljani) on December 6, 1950. He graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics in June 1973, and received his Master’s degree in 1984. From August 1973 to August 1974 he worked as a trainee at what was then the National Bank of Croatia and at the Zagrebačka banka. Following his traineeship he was inspector at the National Bank of Croatia from August 1975 till February 1981, exercising control over commercial banks, especially their credit activities. In the period from August 1981 to February 1985 he was Head of the Primary Issue Operations Division. From June 1985 to June 1989 he worked as a senior adviser, i.e. Deputy Director of the Credit Operations Department, responsible for proposing monetary policy measures. During that period he was responsible for the statistics and supervision over credit operations of banks. In June 1989 he was appointed Director of the Credit Operations Department. In October 1994 he was appointed Executive Director of the Central Banking Operations Area.
A very important year in his professional career was 1996, when he was appointed as chairman of the Working Group for the Introduction of kuna into the Croatian Danube Region. That important mission was successfully completed in 1997. As a result, the kuna was introduced into the payment system of that region as the only legal tender. In February 1999 the CNB Council appointed Mr. Matejka as temporary administrator in the Croatia banka Zagreb. In August 2000 he resumed the position of Executive Director of the Central Banking Operations Area.

Mr. Matejka was appointed Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on 17 October 2001, pursuant to the Decision of the Croatian Parliament. On October 5, 2007 the Croatian Parliament reappointed Mr. Matejka for a second six-year term of office.
Vicegovernor Matejka is responsible for the co-ordination and management of affairs in the field of Foreign Exchange Operations Area, International Relations Area and Payment Operations Area.

 

 

Tomislav Presecan, MSc, Vicegovernor

Tomislav Presecan, MSc, Vicegovernor

Tomislav Presečan, MSc, was born in Vinkovci on June 3, 1963. He graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics in 1987 and received his MSc in economics in 1992. He became Research Assistant at the same Faculty in 1988. He started his professional career in the Croatian National Bank in 1994 as a senior associate, to be appointed Manager of the Governor’s Office and acting Executive Director of the Legal, Personnel and General Services Area in 1999. In the period from 1996 to 1999 he was Assistant to the Executive Director of the IMF Dutch Constituency. Tomislav Presečan was appointed Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on July 15, 2000 pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament. On July 13, 2006 the Croatian Parliament appointed Vicegovernor Tomislav Presečan for a second six-year term of office.

Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Presečan assumed office as Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on July 17, 2012.
Vicegovernor Presečan is responsible for the co-ordination and management of affairs in the field of the Security Office, Planning, Controlling and Accounting Area, Information Technology Area, and Support Services Area.
