22nd Dubrovnik Economic Conference opened today

The 22nd international economic conference opened on Monday, 13 June, in Dubrovnik, an event organised by the Croatian National Bank for over two decades. Traditionally, this conference is a meeting point and a place of dialogue for the academic community, where renowned world and domestic scientists meet with the representatives of numerous financial institutions such as the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Central Bank, the Bank for International Settlements, etc.  Economists from other institutions such as the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Auditors and representatives of the financial industry also take part in the conference.

The topic at the focal point of this year's conference will be papers and discussions on monetary policy, low interest rates policy and sustainable debt.  CNB Governor Boris Vujčić will moderate the panel at which the esteemed representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Eurogroup will attempt to answer the question whether the euro area has indeed stepped out of the crisis.  Using Croatia's example, they will discuss about corporate debt sustainability and the microeconomic assessment of that phenomenon and its macro consequences.  Structural reforms in relation to fiscal and monetary policies will be discussed at the final round table of the 22nd Dubrovnik Economic Conference.
