800th Anniversary of the Earliest Mention of Osijek

In cooperation with Gradska banka d.d. Osijek, the Croatian National Bank issued a commemorative 500 kuna gold coin and 200 and 150 kuna silver coins, marking the 800th anniversary of the earliest mention of Osijek, 1196–1996.

Minted in proof quality, the coins were released for sale on 15 November 1996.

The Decision on the issue and sale of commemorative gold and silver coins marking the 800th anniversary of the earliest mention of Osijek was published in the Official Gazette No. 87/1996, 34/2010, 120/2010, 128/2012, 121/2016 and 109/2017.

The design of the gold and silver coins is by the sculptor Brane Crljenjak.

This issue was minted by the Croatian Mint, in cooperation with Münze Österreich AG, Vienna.

The Croatian National Bank  transferred all rights in respect of promotion and sale of these coins to Gradska banka Osijek d.d., and any orders should be addressed to
