The tables on accounts show data on the number of transaction accounts of payment service users and the number of accounts and users of payment instruments.

PR1 Number of transaction accounts of consumers and non-consumers opened with credit institutions

Data presented in this report are collected on the basis of the Decision on the obligation to submit payment and electronic money statistics (Official Gazette 147/2013 and 16/2017) and the accompanying Instructions.

This report presents data on the number of transaction accounts of consumers and non-consumers opened with credit institutions.

Data about the number of accounts of non-consumers - single-currency and multi-currency, refer to payment transaction accounts opened with credit institutions pursuant to the Decision on the manner of opening transaction accounts (Official Gazette 3/2011, 35/2011, 50/2011, 89/2011, 101/2011, 135/2011, 56/2012, 18/2013, 23/2013, 10/2014, 150/2014, 64/2016 and 107/2017), i.e. for the types of accounts "11", "13", "14", "15", "17", "18" and "19".

Data about the number of accounts of consumers – single-currency and multi-currency, refer to payment transaction accounts opened with credit institutions pursuant to the Decision on the manner of opening transaction accounts (Official Gazette 3/2011, 35/2011, 50/2011, 89/2011, 101/2011, 135/2011, 56/2012, 18/2013, 23/2013, 10/2014, 150/2014, 64/2016 and 107/2017), i.e. for the types of accounts "31", "32" and "35".

Data refer to the status on the last day of each month.

Transaction accounts blocked on the last day of the reporting period are not included in this report.

DEFINITIONS AND DESCRIPTIONS

  1. Consumer

"Consumer" means a natural person who, in payment service contracts covered by the Payment System Act (Official Gazette 66/2018 and 114/2022) is acting for purposes other than his/her trade, business or profession.

  1. Non-consumer

"Non-consumer" means a legal or natural person other than the consumer.

The following are included:

  • legal persons (e.g. corporates, institutions, cooperatives, associations, foundations etc.), craftsmen and other natural persons employed as freelancers or carrying out an economic activity when entering into a contract on payment services or a contract on the issuing of electronic money within the area of their economic activity or freelance occupation,
  • entities that do not have legal personality, but that may be the holders of payment accounts (e.g. bodies of state administration, representative offices etc.).
  1. Transaction account

A transaction account is a current account or a giro account that is regulated by the Payment System Act opened with a credit institution.

  1. Single-currency account

A single-currency account is a payment account in which a credit institution, in accordance with the framework contract, maintains user's funds in a single currency.

  1. Multi-currency account

A multi-currency account is a payment account in which a credit institution, in accordance with the framework contract, maintains user's funds in several different currencies.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC FIELDS OF THE REPORT

  1. Number of accounts as at

The term "Number of accounts as at" represents the data about the total number of payment transaction accounts (single-currency and multi-currency) of payment service users (consumers and non-consumers) operated by a credit institution, which includes the accounts with an authorised overdraft and accounts without an authorised overdraft.

  1. Rows "non-consumer/consumer"

The rows "non-consumer/consumer" for every individual month represent the sum of the category of single-currency and multi-currency accounts.

PR2 "NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS BY PAYMENT SERVICE"

Data presented in this report are collected on the basis of the Decision on the obligation to submit payment and electronic money statistics (Official Gazette 147/2013 and 16/2017) and the accompanying Instructions.

This report presents data about the number of consumers and non-consumers' accounts opened with credit institutions by payment service, or by the contracted method of payment of users at the credit institution.

Data are collected for the Payment account – transaction account and Payment account – another payment account.

Data refer to the status as at the last day of each month.

"Payment account – another payment account" means any account operated by a credit institution in the name of one or more users of payment services used for the execution of payment transactions, and it cannot be classified under the 'Payment account – transaction account' and Other "accounts".

DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC FIELDS OF THE REPORT

  1. Number of accounts as at

The data of "Number of accounts as at" represent the data about the total number of payment accounts operated by the credit institution for which users (consumers and non-consumers) have contracted the following payment methods to debit their payment accounts:

  • The Internet – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, for which the use of Internet (electronic) banking is contracted with the holder of that account,
  • Telebanking – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, for which the use of Telebanking is contracted with the holder of that account,
  • Mobile phone – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, for which the use of the application installed on a mobile telephone for the execution of payment transactions from these accounts is contracted with the holder of that account,
  • E-bill – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, for which the use of E-bill is contracted with the holder of that account,
  • Standing order – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, from which standing orders are executed on the basis of the contract on the standing order concluded with the holders of that account,
  • Direct debit – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, for whose direct debit their holder has given his consent,
  • Other – the total number of payment accounts (transaction account and another payment account) is recorded, operated by the credit institution, from which payment transactions are executed using all other devices/means/channels that are not categorised under any of the above mentioned payment methods.

 

Table PR3 "NUMBER OF USERS BY PAYMENT INSTRUMENT"

Data presented in this report are collected on the basis of the Decision on the obligation to submit payment and electronic money statistics (Official Gazette 147/2013 and 16/2017) and the accompanying Instructions.

This report presents data about the number of consumers and non-consumers by payment instrument, or by the contracted methods of payment of users at the credit institution.

Data are collected for the Payment account – transaction account and Payment account – another payment account.

Data refer to the status as at the last day of each month.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC FIELDS OF THE REPORT

  1. Number of users as at

The data of "Number of users as at" represents the data about the total number of payment service users (consumers and non-consumers) that have contracted the following payment methods with the credit institution to debit their payment account:

  • The Internet – records the total number of users of payment services that have contracted the use of Internet (electronic) banking with the credit institution, irrespective of the number of tokens the credit institution has issued to them,
  • Telebanking – records the total number of payment service users that have contracted the use of Telebanking with the credit institution,
  • Mobile phone – records the total number of payment service users that have contracted the use of the application installed on the mobile phone with the credit institution,
  • E-bill – records the total number of payment service users (payers) that have contracted the use of E-bill with the credit institution,
  • Standing order – records the total number of payment service users (payers) that have entered into contract on the standing order with the credit institution,
  • Direct debit – records the total number of payment service users (payers) that have given consent for direct debiting of their payment account(s) operated by the credit institution,
  • Other – records the total number of payment service users that have contracted the execution of the payment transaction with the credit institution by using other devices/means/channels that are not categorised under any of the above mentioned payment methods.
