CNB hosted a conference on the first anniversary of the introduction of the euro in Croatia

"If I were to sum up in one sentence what the euro has brought to Croatia, I would say it has brought all the benefits that we expected and announced, making the Croatian economy stronger and more resilient, which was particularly evident amid the specific circumstances of the crisis in which it was introduced. With this successful project Croatia made a historical step in joining the group of the most advanced European countries and establishing financial conditions that will facilitate addressing numerous challenges waiting ahead, both those from the economic area and from the wider context,” said the CNB Governor Boris Vujčić at the conference "One Year with the Euro in Croatia", organised by the CNB on 30 January 2024.

“It’s very good news for Europe that Croatia joined the euro so successfully. The Croatian economy performed well in the last difficult year. The euro area is stronger with Croatia joining the club,” emphasised Philip R. Lane, Member of the ECB’s Executive Board.

The Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, gave an introductory address at the conference.

Held within the conference, the panel entitled “Has the Euro Met the Expectations?” provided an opportunity for the participants to exchange experiences and discuss the effects of the introduction of the euro on the various segments of the Croatian economy and society. The panel participants included Andrijana Mušura Gabor, senior lecturer at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management and senior behavioural scientist, Dinko Lucić, President of the Management Board at Privredna banka Zagreb d. d., Zoran Uranjek, managing director with the HF GROUP and Zoran Mitreski, executive director of Fortenova Group and President of the Management Board of Konzum. The panel was moderated by the CNB Vicegovernor Michael Faulend.
