The CNB Governor Ante Žigman, accompanied by the delegation of the CNB and the Ministry of Finance, is attending the IMF and World Bank 2026 Annual Meetings, which are underway in Bangkok, Thailand, from 12 to 18 October. In the course of the Meetings, Governor Žigman will be a featured speaker at a panel on digital currency and the future of the international monetary system, convened by the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee foundation. The Governor will also participate in a panel organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office, which will bring together the representatives of central banks, financial regulators, finance ministries, development banks and international financial institutions to discuss the role of intellectual property and other intangible assets in the financial system.
On the margins of the Annual Meetings, Governor Žigman and CNB representatives will hold a series of bilateral meetings with the representatives of the IMF, World Bank and the international business, financial and academic communities. In his role as the Republic of Croatia Governor at the IMF, Žigman will participate in the IMF plenary session and in the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), which focuses discussions on the key issues of the global economy and the international monetary and financial system and provides strategic guidance for the IMF’s work.
At bilateral meetings, the Governor will have an opportunity to discuss the impact of an increasingly complex global environment on Croatia and share with the interlocutors his view of the economic prospects of Croatia and Europe, including the influence of growing geopolitical, technological and security challenges on monetary and financial policy decisions.
The IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, one of the most important international gatherings of the representatives of central banks, finance ministries, international financial institutions, the private sector and academia, provide a discussion forum for current global economic and financial developments, challenges for the international monetary and financial system, and policies and measures to foster economic growth, financial stability and sustainable development.
