The Croatian National Bank has issued "Neretva River Boat" gold and silver collector coins as part of the Old Croatian Ships collector coin series, with commemorative motifs depicting the Neretva river boat, a traditional indigenous vessel, which was used to transport cargo in the Neretva River Valley. Recently popularised by the "Boat Marathon", this boat reflects the recognisability of the Neretva region and is an important part of the cultural and historical heritage of the Republic of Croatia. The gold coins are issued in 100, 25 and 10 euro denominations and the silver coins are issued in 6 and 4 euro denominations.
The gold and silver coin designs are by the sculptor Petar Varga. The total issued quantity of the 100 euro gold coin is limited at 50 pieces and that of the 25 euro gold coin at 200 pieces. The total issued quantity of the 10 euro gold coin is limited at 1,000 pieces. The total issued quantity of the 6 euro silver coin is limited at 500 pieces and that of the 4 euro silver coin is limited at 1,500 pieces.
The coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint. The initial selling price for the 100 euro gold collector coin is expected to range around EUR 4,473.15, that for the 25 euro gold coin around EUR 1,167.60 and that for the 10 euro gold coin around EUR 294.07. The selling price for the 6 euro and 4 euro silver coins is expected to range around EUR 244.39 and EUR 128.23 with VAT, respectively. The selling price at the time of purchase will depend on gold and silver price movements in the open market.
