CNB issues "Gajeta Falkuša" gold and silver coins

The Croatian National Bank has issued "Gajeta Falkuša" gold and silver collector coins as part of the Old Croatian Ships series of collector coins with commemorative motifs representing falkuša, a traditional fishing sailboat, a subtype of a fishing sailboat gajeta that used to be built in the town of Komiža on the island of Vis. For centuries, falkuša was the basis of the livelihood and life of the local fishermen's community. Therefore, it is an important part of the cultural, historical and economic heritage of the Republic of Croatia. The gold coins are issued in the 100 and 25 euro denominations and the silver coins are issued in the 6 and 4 euro denominations.

The design of the gold and silver collector coins "Gajeta Falkuša" is by the sculptor Jelena Mavrić Varga. The collector coins were released for sale on 9 September 2025. The total issued quantity of the EUR 100 gold coin is limited to 150 pieces and that of the EUR 25 gold coin to 250 pieces. The total issued quantity of the EUR 6 silver coin is limited to 500 pieces and that of the EUR 4 silver coin to 1,500 pieces.

The gold and silver coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint and the initial selling price of the EUR 100 and EUR 25 gold collector coins is expected to range around EUR 3,620.74 and EUR 849.60, respectively. The selling price for the EUR 6 and EUR 4 silver collector coins is expected to range around EUR 179.99 with VAT and EUR 79.99 with VAT, respectively. The selling price at the time of purchase will depend on the movement in the price of gold and silver in the open market.
