CNB sells 270.6 million euros

Aiming at balancing the foreign exchange market, but also as a warning that foreign exchange speculation will not be tolerated, the Croatian National Bank sold EUR 270.6 million this morning at the average exchange rate of HRK 7.2267 for one euro.
In accordance with its commitment, the CNB will continue its policy of maintaining the stability of the domestic currency, employing all available monetary and exchange rate policy instruments.
As at 24 October 2008, the central bank's net foreign exchange reserves totalled EUR 8,158 million, which was EUR 866 million more than at the beginning of the year.
