Mr. J. de Beaufort Wijnholds, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and Director of the IMF constituency to which Croatia belongs, is coming to Croatia on Thursday May 13, 1999. Mr. Wijnholds is visiting Croatia for the purpose of obtaining an insight in economic and financial conditions in Croatia as well as reviewing the possibilities for further cooperation between the IMF and Croatia. The program of this visit begins with a meeting in the Croatian National Bank on Friday. During his further stay in Croatia, Mr. Wijnholds will meet the officials of the Croatian Government and the Ministry of Finance, the representatives of the Croatian Parliament and will also have a meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia.
Two other members of the IMF team will also be in Croatia in the coming days. Together with Mr. Gary O'Callaghan, resident representative of the IMF in Croatia, they will be collecting additional data to be used in negotiations for the expected new stand-by arrangement. According to the latest information, the IMF mission headed by Mr. Hans Flickenshild will not come to Croatia next week, as was expected, but on a later date which has not been determined yet.
