From the standpoint of numismatics, Croatia's accession to the European Union started as early as six years ago by the issuance of 25 kuna circulation coins "Republic of Croatia - EU Membership Candidate, 18 June 2004". The forthcoming conclusion of the accession agreement between the EU and Croatia will also be accompanied by the issuance of 25 kuna circulation coins.
