Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank participated again this year in the well-known cultural event Museum Night, held on Friday 30 January 2026. A diverse educational programme and a free tour of the museum exhibition attracted more than 1,000 visitors of all generations who explored the world of money and finance in a contemporary, interactive environment.
Visitors were particularly attracted to the programme "CSI CNB – Euro: Currency Forensics", where experts from the Currency Area of the Croatian National Bank presented the security features of euro banknotes and coins in short, interactive workshops. Visitors had the opportunity to learn first-hand how to check the authenticity of cash and distinguish genuine banknotes and coins from counterfeits, which made the programme one of the most attended and dynamic parts of the evening.
Pop-up workshops were organised for children and young people. Through play and interactive activities, children learned how to distinguish between wishes and needs, while older participants explored the topics of saving, personal budget planning and responsible financial decision-making. The workshops fostered curiosity, conversation and active participation, and once again showed the importance of developing financial literacy from an early age.
Under the guidance of Moneterra’s expert staff, visitors unlocked knowledge about money, its history, functions and role in everyday life. In a simple and accessible way, by use of multimedia content and interactive exhibits, they gained new insights into banking, personal finance, monetary policy and central banks’ roles and responsibilities.
Moneterra wishes to thank everyone taking part in the exciting evening of the Museum Night 2026! This year again, we aim to bring the world of money and finance closer to the general public and promote financial literacy through educational and interactive programmes.
