CNB issues "Black Lizard" gold and silver collector coins

The Croatian National Bank has issued "Black Lizard" gold and silver collector coins with commemorative motifs that represent an endemic subspecies of the Brusnik karst lizard (Podarcis melisellensis melisellensis), an important part of the natural heritage of the Republic of Croatia, living on a small island of Brusnik, which has been protected as a geological natural monument since 1951. The gold coins are issued in the 100 and 10 euro denominations and the silver coin is issued in the 4 euro denomination.

The author of the design of the gold and silver collector coins is Nikola Vudrag. The collector coins "Black Lizard" are released for sale on 14 March 2024. The issued quantity of the 100 and 10 euro gold collector coins is limited at 200 and 2,000 pieces, respectively, and the issued quantity of the 4 euro silver collector coin is limited at 4,000 pieces.

The collector coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint. The initial selling price of the 100 and 10 euro gold collector coins is expected to range around EUR 2,400.00 and EUR 160.00, respectively, and of the silver collector coin around EUR 40,00, not including VAT. The selling price at the time of purchase will depend on the movement in the price of gold and silver in the open market.
